Stramilano 2026: a record-breaking edition with other 62.500 participants
03/05/2026

Milan has once again confirmed its status as the capital of running and community. The 53rd edition of Stramilano, held on Sunday, May 3rd, marked a historic milestone by breaking every previous record: over 62,500 people took over the city center streets, transforming the city into a stage for sport, smiles, and collective energy.
A heartfelt beginning
The day opened with a moment of deep emotion: a minute of silence dedicated to Alex Zanardi, an enduring symbol of determination and sporting passion. Giving the official start to the competitions was the guest godmother Francesca Lollobrigida, Olympic speed skating champion, who accompanied the runners toward the finish line.
Half Marathon results
At 8:30 AM, the professional challenge over the 21 km distance kicked off from Piazza Castello. On one of Italy’s fastest courses, the times were of the highest level:
- Men’s Podium: Triumph for Mark Kiptoo (01:00:09), followed by Amon Kiptoo (01:00:28) and Philemon Kiplimo Kimaiyo (01:00:41).
- Women’s Podium: Victory for Jedidah Chepkemoi Sang (01:10:04), ahead of Hilda Jelagat Kiptum (01:11:17) and Esther Yeko Chekwemoi (01:11:28).
- Top Italians: Excellent performances by Alain Cavagna (01:04:31) and Giulia Sommi (01:20:00).
The 10 km and the Stramilanina in Piazza Duomo
The beating heart of the event was Piazza Duomo, where the 10 km non-competitive run started at 10:00 AM, inaugurated by the traditional blast of the historic cannon and the music of the Army, Air Force, and Carabinieri bands. Shortly after, the enthusiasm of the youngest participants brought the 5 km Stramilanina to life, a festival of colors involving entire families. Among the most appreciated novelties this year were the free t-shirts for children under 4 and the special welcome reserved for four-legged friends.
Beyond the finish line: solidarity and entertainment
The Arco della Pace was transformed into a festive village with music, DJ sets, and spectacular acrobatics by the LiberiDi company. But Stramilano is, above all, about solidarity: the event supported numerous associations including Abio, City Angels, Africa&Sport, and the “Un dono dal Cielo” project for pediatric hospitals, including the Buzzi in Milan.
