The best international runners run in Milan on March 24th

This morning, inside Palazzo Cusani in Milan took place the press conference to present the Stramilano Half Marathon 2024 and the top international running athletes who will run on Sunday, March 24th. The Milanese half-marathon will start from Piazza Castello at 8:30 a.m. and it will end at the bottom of the Sforza mansion where the fastest of the athletes will cross the finish line.

Among the 2024 favorites there are Anchinalu Dessie Genaneh, who came in third in the 2023 edition (1h 07min 30sec), Morine Gesare Michira, who recorded a personal best of 68min 40sec at the 50th Stramilano Half Marathon, and Giovanna Selva, who participated in the half-marathon that took place last October at the World Military Championships in Lucerne, Switzerland, tracking a personal best of 1h 12min 34sec.

The athletes competing for the men’s podium are: Antony Kimtai, class of 1998, so far the fastest among the athletes competing in the race with a time of 59min 45sec recorded in Naples, Bernard Musau Wambua who enters the Stramilano Half Marathon with a personal best of 60min 41sec, and Therence Bizoza, the owner of Burundi’s national record, set in Arezzo in 2022, when he ran 21 kilometers in 61min 30sec.

For Italy the main athletes will be Luca Alfieri, with a personal best of 64min 49sec, and Michele Fontana, with a time of 64min 06sec recorded in Prague last year. Making his half marathon debut, Francesco Guerra, class of 2001, will join the race coached by Vittorio Di Saverio.

This spring the new record to beat is the one set last year by Cosmas Mwangi Boi, who won the race with a time of 59 minutes and 40 seconds.
